EQUIPMENT

Portals of Midwrathe is a low-fantasy campaign setting where the economy is based on the Silver Pfenning.  Several of the items listed in the PHB may have a different pricing and availability (subject to each region).

Equipment selection and purchase is greatly influenced by regional availability. Regional GMs determine what goods and services may be purchased in their region. Many places in the campaign have severe limitations on what may be purchased. PCs who are not nobles or in the service to a noble lord are generally prohibited from carrying martial weapons and metal armors. While some exotic weapons are unheard of, with the nature of the Shadow Gates there is an increased chance of finding something truly odd. Midwrathe has no riding dogs.

An example equipment price list is provided.  Check with your regional gamemaster for a region specific equipment availability and cost sheet.

ECONOMY

The economy of Midwrathe is simple.  The rich have money, everyone does not.  Each region establishes its own local economic structure with trade and commerce.

Normally, the daily life of the average citizen would revolve around barter in their local region.  The economy for the average person rarely involves the exchange of coin.  Only at the level of the city or religious establishment is the coin held in high regard.

Each region will typically have it's own coins.  What is described here can be used as an example of the coin system used in Pendar.

Copper Groats (cg) at 100 per pound, each weighing 4.5g
Silver Pfennings (sp) at 100 per pound, each weighing 4.5g
Gold Domars (gd) at 100 per pound, each weighing 4.5g
Gold Sovereigns (gs) at 25 per pound, each weighing 22.5g

500cg = 50sp = 5gd = 1gs
