Womyr - Island IsolationistsWomyr [voe - MEER] are among the oddest of the inhabitants of the Lothings. With their blue skin and violet eyes, they look distinctly non-human (though human they are). They are shorter than most other races of humanity, and tend to look sullen or contemplative to the eyes of others. The Womyr claim the entirety of the Lothings and much of the coastal lands, claiming that all of that was theirs long before any other people arrived and saying that they were the first to speak Womyri (their name for the Yjsen/Skojik tongue). While colonies of Womyr have been found throughout that territory there is little evidence to support their outlandish claims of an empire. They seem confident of their claim, however, and feel no guilt about simply taking things that are in their former area, seeing this not as theft but merely reclaiming that which was already theirs. The Womyr are famed for their body art. Tattoos, brands, scars, and piercings are all very common among them. The art comes in multiple styles, and outsiders have trouble understanding the symbology, if any exists at all. By the same token, Womyr clothing styles seem almost utterly random, though they claim to be able to tell who is well-dressed and who is not. It is rumoured that these people have arcane powers, yet the only traditional sign of this that they display is insanity; they don't typically have obvious disfigurements and they are not commonly seen in the presence of unnatural occurances. Nevertheless, many believe that their body art and isolationism are part of their culture for the very reason of hiding these occurances.
